Rottura interna nel NBPA. Hunter sta accusando Fisher di essersi venduto a Stern, che sta lavorando solo per fare un'accordo favorevole, per adesso, alla NBA e non ai giocatori. Hunter continua a non voler scendere dal 52% delle BRI, una sfida che per me durerà ancora meno di una settimana.
Fisher ha risposto con la lettera, precedentemente pubblicata, rivolta a tutti i giocatori. Anche FoxSport ha attaccato il giocatore con le stesse parole di Hunter.
Il fronte giocatori quindi si spacca in due proprio nel momento migliore delle trattative. Se questo stato persiste, potremmo non avere una stagione del tutto. Ma, i proprietari, impauriti, sapendolo, e sapendo anche che l'emorraggia di soldi continua, potrebbero arrivare a approvare un deal a breve, prima che tutto finisca male. Insomma, una catastrofe che potrebbe rivelarsi un'ottima notizia.
Ma la cosa per ora rimane grave. Oggi la NBPA si riunisce in tribunale a Manhattana dove il giudice Gardephe deciderà se l'unione si sciogliesse, il lockout non fosse una violazione all'antitrust. Dall'articolo di Mitch Lawrence sul NY Daily News: "A ruling by Gardephe in favor of the NBA could ostensibly force the union to abandon any future plans to decertify, if the stalemate at the bargaining table were to continue indefinitely. Although there are some powerful agents who were pushing for the union to do that earlier in the lockout, the union has never embraced going the court route to get a new labor deal. … NFL players took the decertification route in their fight against the league’s owners last spring, but that tactic was not considered a success. Since the NBA players have not taken any action on the decertification front, and have yet to file an antitrust case against the league, the union contends that there is no dispute that has occurred for the court to decide, and therefore the case should be dismissed."
