27/01/2012 - Curry's vegeance
Prima volta che Eddy Curry affronta i suoi vecchi compagni di squadra. Affronta...se giocherà, dato che finora ha fatto 12 minuti di gioco in 18 partite. Compagni di squadra...avrebbe dovuto giocarci insieme invece di strafogarsi di coratella mentre se ne stava a casa, per chiamarli tali. Comunque stasera big showdown in Miami tra Heat e Knicks. Niente barone per ora, ma chissà.
Difficile predire il risultato, di solito contro le big New York mostra le palle, senza per forza vincere, mentre con le piccole fà la snob e le prende.
Curry bocca larga però ha qualcosa da dire.

“I don’t even think about it, honestly,” Curry said of his Knicks stint. “That was a long time ago and I’m just looking toward the future right now. I don’t feel any way, positive or negative. I don’t feel anything.”

25/01/2012 Il dopo Charlotte e la gara coi Cavs.
Pensieri pre partita coi Cavs:
Record 7-10 in un calendario ridicolo per la facilità. Il record medio degli avversari parla da solo. 40%. nessuno ha avuto un calendario più semplice (l'unica che si avvicina è Indiana con un 43%, ma giustamente ha un record 11-5). Il tutto condito da 9 in casa (dove il record è 3-6, 33%) dove gli avversari erano Charlotte due volte, Toronto, Suns, tra le altre.
Dopo 17 partite abbiamo vinto più fuori casa (4-4 50%) che in casa.
Melo. Fa fatica. Gioca su 3 infortuni (caviglia girata due volte, gomito e polso fasciato e coperto da due tutori) che minano la coordinazione e l'efficenza del tiro al 100%. Chiunque giochi a basket capirà cosa vuol dire tirare su una gamba sola e con mezzo braccio. Eppure nessuno lo fa notare, ne da qusta parte dell'oceano ne dall'altra. E' giusto crticarlo, non è il leader che ci si aspettava, forza spesso (eh certo, chi segna sennò? Walker?), si fa espellere per bisticci etc... ma andrebbe detto anche il resto. E andrebbe detto che perdere per perdere si dovrebbe obbligarlo a sedersi per un bel paio di partite, riposare e ritrovarlo al meglio. Giocare così, peggiora solo la sua salute. Ma non posso essere io a obbligarlo, ma lo staff tecnico e medico.
Perchè gente che ricopre, non dico per qualità, i suoi minuti c'è. Novak (3 su 3 da 3 contro CHA, segno che sa tirare eh, oh l'abbiam preso solo per quello) e Balkman (eroe delle prime 10 partite e poi INSPIEGABILMENTE panchinato). Ma anche Jordan può dare fiato.
Ma siamo alle solite. Mozgov è titolare a Denver, giocando 25 minuti ma dando tutto quello che può, Randolph dice la sua a Minnie. Quindi sanno giocare, meritano, anche solo per fare 2 falli e far rifiatare la squadra, quei 10 15 minuti. Qui invece, il genio, va con la rotazione corta.
Contro Charlotte ha concluso con un solo punto (su 6 conclusioni tentate, 0-6) in 30 minuti, ma ha fatto da gregario aggiungendo 4 assist, con moltissime palle d'oro non convertite o non valutate assist, e tirato giù 11 rimbalzi.

Ind e Phi, solide per un posto tra il 3 e il 6. Orl, nonostante un Howard partente potrà giocarsi il fattore campo ai PO. Atl resiste. Boston nonostante la vecchiaia e un record perdente ce la fà. Tralasciando noi, il resto sono pure macerie. Milwakee, New Jersey, Toronto, Cleveland, Detroit, Washington, Charlotte, sono tutte squadre che non puntano ai PO. O meglio, non potrebbero. Quindi le prime 8 dovrebbero già essere scritte. Ma mai dire mai...

E la maledizione continua. Dopo la buona vittoria a Charlotte, serviva una riconferma, non solo per continuare a vincere ma per dimostrare che riusciamo a battere squadracce come i Cavs. E invece no. La maledizione Cleveland continua, era Lebron o no.
C'è poco da dire dopo una partita del genere. Farsi tenere a 81 punti da una squadra che ne prende in media 97.53 è incommentabile. L'unica nota positiva è la quarta gara di fila di Fields sopra i 10, una cosa che non succedeva dal novembre 2011.
In una serata dove si è tirato 3-20 da 3 e dove Novak non ha visto, ancora una volta il campo. Idem per Balkman e Jordan.
Oltrea al danno la beffa. Soprasso in classifica (Cavs 7-10) e sorpasso anche dei Bucks, corsari a Houston.
Venerdì si va a Miami e poi a Houston. Tour durissimo e con la parte facile ormai passata. Baron Davis potrebbe rintrare proprio contro gli Heat o forse in Texas. Intanto spero che Melo riposi.

La frattura che ci salverà
Rottura interna nel NBPA. Hunter sta accusando Fisher di essersi venduto a Stern, che sta lavorando solo per fare un'accordo favorevole, per adesso, alla NBA e non ai giocatori. Hunter continua a non voler scendere dal 52% delle BRI, una sfida che per me durerà ancora meno di una settimana.
Fisher ha risposto con la lettera, precedentemente pubblicata, rivolta a tutti i giocatori. Anche FoxSport ha attaccato il giocatore con le stesse parole di Hunter.
Il fronte giocatori quindi si spacca in due proprio nel momento migliore delle trattative. Se questo stato persiste, potremmo non avere una stagione del tutto. Ma, i proprietari, impauriti, sapendolo, e sapendo anche che l'emorraggia di soldi continua, potrebbero arrivare a approvare un deal a breve, prima che tutto finisca male. Insomma, una catastrofe che potrebbe rivelarsi un'ottima notizia.
Ma la cosa per ora rimane grave. Oggi la NBPA si riunisce in tribunale a Manhattana dove il giudice Gardephe deciderà se l'unione si sciogliesse, il lockout non fosse una violazione all'antitrust. Dall'articolo di Mitch Lawrence sul NY Daily News: "A ruling by Gardephe in favor of the NBA could ostensibly force the union to abandon any future plans to decertify, if the stalemate at the bargaining table were to continue indefinitely. Although there are some powerful agents who were pushing for the union to do that earlier in the lockout, the union has never embraced going the court route to get a new labor deal. … NFL players took the decertification route in their fight against the league’s owners last spring, but that tactic was not considered a success. Since the NBA players have not taken any action on the decertification front, and have yet to file an antitrust case against the league, the union contends that there is no dispute that has occurred for the court to decide, and therefore the case should be dismissed."
Le parti dovrebbero reincontrarsi giovedì.

James Dolan e Chris Paul, un'amicizia in tempo di guerra.
James Dolan è il presidente della Cable Vision, nonchè del Madison Square Garden (nonchè del relativo channell) nonchè delle due squadre che ci giocano, i New York Rangers di hockey e i New York Knicks di basket. Questo è anche per dare un'idea di che razza di gente, i proprietari sono. Non dei poveracci, per capirci.
Chris Paul è il play titolare da diversi anni dei New Orleans Hornets, squadra appena rilevata dalla NBA, (in mancanza, momentanea, di un compratore), a detta di molti la miglior PG della lega e sogno proibito dei Knicks nel mercato free agent del 2012, quando appunto sarà libero di cambiare aria.
Tra questo sogno e la realtà, ci sono diverse componenti.
-La volontà del giocatore. Paul è amico stretto di Amar'e Stoudemire e Melo Anthony, le due stelle dei Knicks. Questa estate, al matrimonio di Melo, a New York, quando Stat era già dei Knicks, Melo già spingeva per diventarlo un giorno, i 3 brindarono al felice evento e si fecero, dicono i presenti, una promessa: giocare un giorno insieme, magari come risposta ai 3 di Miami.
Ora, due sono a New York e lo saranno per molto, mancherebbe solo lui. Se la logica dell'amicizia, che ha funzionato con Bosh-Wade-LBJ, funzionasse, non ci sarebbero problemi. Ma questo solo il primo problema.
-I nuovi proprietari/Quelli attuali, ovvero la NBA. Gli Hornets sono stati venduti percgè sostanzialmente non rendono. In quel della Louisiana il basket non va per la maggiore, la squadra non è mai stata da titolo (anche se con Paul ha sempre fatto faville e forse con giusti acquisti avrebbero fatte ben altra strada nei PO) e vivere a New Orleans può piacere ma anche no.
Vista la situazione economica, parcheggiata alla lega che la gestirà come si gestisce un'azienda, cioè perdere il meno possibile, anche senza fare chissà che risultati sportivi, sembra difficile che lascino partire così facilmente la loro stella. Tolto Paul gli Hornets sarebbero ancora meno sui radar della NBA che conta.
Stesso pensiero lo avrebbero i nuovi possibili titolari. Ricostruire dalla unica stella, quindi senza spendere cifre folli andando a cercarne un'altra.
Ma il giocatore sarà free agent, quindi, avrà il diritto di andarsene.
-Il salary cap. Questo è (era, vedremo poco) il problema principale. Hard o soft, si dice che con il nuovo CBA, verrà abbassato di parecchio dai suoi 58 milioni, non permettendo così squadre con multi AS come gli Heat. Perchè se Stat, melo e CP3 volessero tutti il massimo, e due ce l'hanno già garantito, si andrebbe oltre il limite e non si potrebbe.
Ma ecco una buona fortuna per i Knicks. Secondo alcune fonti (http://www.nypost.com/p/sports/knicks/dolan_thinking_cap_KYqiEAYeqYYk4xR4CJ3ApO) quando sto benedetto CBA sarà fatto, il salary cap rimarrà intatto, e anzi, salirà fino a 60-61 milioni nel 2012, ovvero quando scatterà la gara a CP3.
L'amicizia in tempo di guerra. Dolan è sempre presente ai meeting di questo lockout (abitando a 200 metri di distanza...) e presente è anche Paul, rappresentante dell'unione giocatori. Dolan, come dice l'articolo sopra citato, forte di essere uno dei grandi mercati, sta svolgendo la funzione di mediatore. Non è mai stato cattivo o mai si impuntato sulle note più gravose di questo accordo e anzi ha cercato di far avvicinare le parti. Non solo lui non avrà mai problemi di soldi, con una squadra a New York (da 10 anni perdente cronica ma la più valutata secondo Forbes) ma finalmente ha una squadra vincente e competitiva e vorrebbe moltissimo che si tornasse a giocare.
Questo ha avvicinato i due, seduti sempre uno di fronte all'altro, ponendo le basi per...chissà.
Avvertimento finale per i tifosi Knicks (ovvero anche me): se CP3 saltasse, causa NBA o nuovi proprietari, nella free agency del 2012 sono liberi anche Deron Williams (vicino di casa, Brooklyn e mica tanto felice di rimanere ai Nets) e Dwight Howard (dato per partente da Orlando), senza contare Nash, che potrebbero concludere la carriera dando una mano, per meno soldi, a una squadra da titolo.

My goal, the Executive Committee's ONLY goal is to present you with the most fair deal possible. A deal that is both fair on system and BRI. One isn't more important than the other. Our Executive Committee, NBPA staff and I are navigating the negotiations very carefully. We need to continue to work hard on your behalf and get the season going if possible. I've been speaking with many of you and we are working with your opinions, suggestions, and requests front and center. This is your union, and we work with and for you.
Many of you have asked about the timing of the cancellation of games. We know as players and interacting with our fans and the people that work in these arenas on a daily basis this is having an impact. If nothing more, the league and owners should understand people's livelihoods are at stake. They should be able to take the over 1 Billion dollars we've offered them and open the doors of their arenas and let us, along with the ushers, parking attendants, everyone impacted to get back to work.
Usually I wouldn't even dignify absurd media reports with a comment. But before these reports go any further, let me say on the record to each of you, my loyalty has and always will be with the players. Anyone that questions that or doubts that does not know me, my history, and what I stand for. And quite frankly, how dare anyone call that into question. The Players Association is united and any reports to the contrary are false. There have been no side agreements, no side negotiations or anything close. We are united in serving you and presenting the best options and getting everyone back to work.
The attempt by "sources" to divide us will be unsuccessful. We will continue to work every day to do right by you, the businesses that depend on our league and our fans.
The NBA and the owners have not allowed us to go back to work. So they have essentially turned their backs on not only the players, but the fans that have made them billions. I hope they decide to change that. It's the only way everyone wins. I urge each of you to stay involved. Call me and your fellow players on the Executive Committee and the NBPA staff with anything you need or questions you may have.
